Barry, who has three grown up children, is married to Tomoko, his beautiful Japanese wife and despite approaching the big 60 soon, he has decided to take up the challenge in the name of charity to swim a mile in Lake Windermere (Cumbria, North of England) to raise fund for Rainbow Project!
Here is the link to find out more information about the Great North Swim event.
Barry is a lawyer by profession and has been living and practicing law in Hong Kong for over 30 years!
Soccer and boxing are 2 sports of his choice. He started to learn the proper technique in executing the freestyle stroke in 2010 as part of the rehabilitation program for his left shoulder surgery.
Barry has never swum in an open water event, which can be deep, wild and choppy, and on top of that the water might be cold.
Alan Mercer, the former chairman of Rainbow Project and also a good friend of Barry will accompany Barry in this open water event.
Barry has several friends who have children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and he has also observed and heard about the many good works that Rainbow Project has been doing to support families affected by Autism. When he signed up for the swim event he made no hesitation in choosing Rainbow Project to be the beneficiary of his fundraising effort. The proceeds from his fundraising effort will be channeled to Rainbow Project’s Low Income Subsidy Programme. The Low Income Subsidy Programme makes it affordable for low-income families to tap on both occupational therapy and speech therapy, which are both very important part of treatment that are essential for children affected by Autism.
Rainbow Project is so grateful to Barry Hoy for his efforts in taking up the challenge to swim a mile in the Great North Swim event to raise fund for children diagnosed with ASD in low-income families.
Rainbow Project would like to urge you to actively support Barry Hoy’s heartwarming efforts by making a generous donation to cheer him on! Please help us spread this news to all your friends!
